Every year, over 700,000 Africans die from the smoke of charcoal and wood fires used to cook food. It’s a public health crisis worse than malaria. But when African countries try to switch to cleaner, safer LPG — the same gas you’d use to cook while camping — the World Bank says no, because some of its biggest shareholders say it’s a fossil fuel.
These governments are trying to keep their hypocrisy on the down-low — buried in technical policy meetings and hidden from public view. The last thing they want is for this story to get out. That’s why this video matters. The more people who see and share it, the harder it becomes for the World Bank and its backers to quietly block clean cooking solutions.
Our video exposes that deadly hypocrisy— by showing Africans making absurd sacrifices so the Global North can keep their brunches hot and their homes cozy.
It’s funny. Until you realise it’s real.
